Redefining Durability: How Our Advanced Coating Process Ensures Long-Lasting Industrial Heating Equipment

American Thermal has recently enhanced our coating process to ensure superior quality and durability for our industrial heating equipment. These improvements encompass professional sandblasting, a climate-controlled paint booth, and meticulous primer application, culminating in our signature red finish.

Professional Sandblasting

To achieve an optimal surface for coating, American Thermal collaborates with professional sandblasting services. This process effectively removes impurities such as rust, old paint, and mill scale, resulting in a clean substrate that enhances coating adhesion and longevity. Sandblasting is a conventional method of preparing metal surfaces before applying treatments or finishes, ensuring the durability and effectiveness of the final product.

Climate-Controlled Paint Booth

Following sandblasting, the heater enters a state-of-the-art, climate-controlled paint booth. Maintaining consistent temperature and humidity levels is crucial for the application and curing of coatings, as it prevents defects such as blistering or uneven drying. The controlled environment ensures that each layer of primer and paint adheres properly, resulting in a uniform and high-quality finish. Adding heat to a paint booth through a heated air makeup unit (AMU) allows for precise control over the booth’s pressure and temperature, further enhancing the quality of the coating process.

Primer Application and Baking

In the paint booth, a high-quality primer is meticulously applied to the prepared surfaces. The equipment is then subjected to a controlled baking process, which cures the primer, forming a solid foundation for the topcoat. This step is vital for corrosion resistance and ensures that the final paint layer adheres seamlessly, providing long-term protection and durability.

Final Coating and Field Installation

After the primer has cured, the equipment receives our signature red topcoat using a top of the line Sherwin Williams Marine coating system. The climate-controlled conditions ensure a flawless application, resulting in a durable and visually appealing finish. Once completed, the equipment is installed on-site, where the enhanced coating process offers superior protection against environmental factors, extending the lifespan of the equipment and maintaining its appearance.

Voila! Final product with the beautiful red top coat installed in the field.

These advancements in American Thermal’s coating process underscore our commitment to delivering high-quality, durable, and reliable industrial heating equipment. By integrating professional sandblasting, climate-controlled painting environments, and precise application techniques, we ensure that our products not only perform exceptionally but also withstand the test of time.
